In our first meeting we simply talk. I’ll ask about what’s going on in your life, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope might change. From there we work together to understand patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behavior, and start developing practical ways to move forward.
Stress is part of life, but therapy can help when stress begins to affect your sleep, relationships, mood, or ability to concentrate. Many people come simply because they feel stuck or overwhelmed and want a clearer way forward. Therapy isn’t only for crises — it’s also for understanding yourself better and improving how you live and work.
Many clients come because of work stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions. Others want help with rumination, burnout, perfectionism, substance use, OCD, or unresolved trauma. Some people also come simply because they want clarity about their goals or direction in life.
My main approaches are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centered Therapy. I also use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, and harm reduction and motivational interviewing for substance use. I often incorporate self-compassion practices as well, since many people struggle with harsh self-criticism.
Talking is part of it, but therapy is also about learning practical skills. We work on things like managing rumination, recognizing thought patterns, responding to stress differently, and reconnecting with what matters most in your life. The goal is to develop tools you can use outside the session.
Yes. All sessions are conducted remotely. This allows people to attend from anywhere and makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules.
This varies from person to person. Some people notice changes fairly quickly, while deeper patterns can take longer to work through. Our goal is not just to remove symptoms, but to help you develop skills that allow you to live well even when life is difficult.
Most clients start with weekly sessions so we can build momentum. Over time many people move to bi-weekly or occasional sessions as things improve. We can adjust the schedule depending on your needs.
I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, some insurance plans will reimburse out-of-network therapy, so you may be able to submit receipts for reimbursement. It’s best to check directly with your insurance provider.
Fees are on a sliding scale. The lower end of the scale is intended for clients who are unemployed or facing financial difficulty, while the higher end is typically used by clients who will seek reimbursement from insurance. We can discuss the appropriate fee together during the first meeting.
Yes. Therapy sessions are confidential, with a few standard legal exceptions related to safety or risk of harm. I’m happy to explain these in detail during the first meeting.
That’s completely normal. Many people start therapy because they feel confused, stuck, or overwhelmed. Part of our work together is helping you clarify what matters to you and what direction you want to move toward.
Yes. Because sessions are online, I work with clients in many locations. The main requirement is that sessions take place in a time zone that works for both of us.
Yes. Many of my clients are professionals dealing with high levels of responsibility and pressure. Therapy can help you understand how stress is affecting you and develop healthier ways to manage it while staying effective at work.
Therapy works best when you feel comfortable with the process and the therapist. If something isn’t working, we can talk about it and adjust the approach. The goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported.
