As ’25 comes to a close, I thought I’d share a good article on some key mental wellness studies related to the workplace, done over the past year.

It’s a good read. Here is a quick synopsis:

-In one large study, employees in the high stress USA insurance sector are largely cynical about mental wellness programs, feeling they are “window dressing”. This points to same challenge companies have when it comes to so much of what they do—whether it’s mental health, or implementing SAP. Management must fully get on board to address the collective environment, not just treat it as a one off. While this study was of one industry and in the USA, my experience and what I have heard from others tells me this is very much similar in Japan.

-Studies reinforced that mindfulness isn’t just a private experience, but can be used to help loneliness by acting as a mechanism for “social courage”.

-In similar fashion, research validated that we don’t just meditate to become better individuals, but to be better community members. We may better heal ourselves by helping others.

-A large clinical trial highlighted the benefits of consistent short mindfulness exercises versus less regular longer ones. Short and sweet.

-Experiments show that AI can perform very well when it comes to some functions like guided meditation. The study warns against assuming that AI can take the further step of filling relationship voids.
