Workplace Harassment — Gaman Isn’t a Policy

From October 1, every employer in Japan has a legal duty to protect staff from customer harassment at the workplace. No size exemption.

It covers consumers and corporate clients — phone, SNS, face-to-face.

This is big news.

Most organizations will meet it with a policy document. Thats the floor, and its worth doing properly.

But the Ministry's own survey found that among workers who had experienced "kasuhara", 35% did nothing at all. More than half of them said they didn't believe anything would help.

A policy doesn't reach that person. It sits in a handbook while they sit at their desk at 17:45, after a hostile call, with a report still due.

Compliance protects the organization. Skills protect the individual.

Only one of those is now legally required.

Our MindBridge October newsletter covers what changes, what the data shows, and a grounding exercise your team can use the minute a call ends.
